Children Faith Formation

Parents are called to be the first teachers in faith of their children and assist them to come to grow in the love of God and example of Jesus Christ. It is within the family that children are nurtured and formed. (A Framework for Student Formation in Catholic Education)

Catechism of the Catholic Church

2685 The Christian family is the first place of education in prayer. Based on the sacrament of marriage, the family is the “domestic church” where God’s children learn to pray “as the Church” and to persevere in prayer. For young children in particular, daily family prayer is the first witness of the Church’s living memory as awakened patiently by the Holy Spirit.

Welcome! After the Sacramental Program, when the children have celebrated their Sacraments, the parish will continue to provide support to the children in their faith journey. This will be through ongoing religious education, opportunities for spiritual growth, and involvement in parish activities. Additionally, the parish can provide a sense of community, mentorship, service opportunities and encouragement to live out the teachings of the Church in daily life.
In the home, Christian parents cultivate for themselves and their children a spiritual life directed towards loving God and loving others in the Catholic way of life. The home becomes the base for Catholic culture where faith in God is exercised in real life.
